Short answer: Yes. Nearly every moving company in the Kansas City metro works Saturdays, most work Sundays, and weekends are actually the busiest moving days — lease-turn dates cluster at month-end. Book Local Movers runs in-house crews seven days a week, including weekend loads, unloads, and full moves across Johnson County and the KC metro.
Ask any crew in this metro: Saturday is the heaviest day of the moving week. Apartment leases in Olathe, Overland Park, and Lenexa tend to turn at month-end, K-10 and I-35 truck traffic peaks on Saturdays, and most people simply can't take a weekday off. We completed 25 moves this past July and a large share were weekend jobs — weekends are normal operating hours for us, not a special favor.
There's no universal weekend surcharge in KC — most local companies, including us, charge the same rates Saturday as Tuesday. Our labor-only rates run $40–60 per mover-hour, and a typical weekend load or unload runs 2–3 hours with a two-mover crew. Full-service weekend moves are quoted on the job, upfront, before anyone lifts a box.
For the last Saturday of a month: 1–2 weeks ahead, minimum. For a random mid-month Saturday: a few days is usually enough, and same-day weekend slots open most weeks when a job finishes early. Sundays are easier to book short-notice than Saturdays almost every week.
Usually not. Most KC companies charge the same hourly rate any day of the week. We charge the same rates seven days a week.
Most do, including us. Sunday is generally lighter than Saturday, which means more open slots and shorter notice windows.
